TWD: 15 Minute Magic Chocolate Amaretti Torte

Hmmm....I think I must have done something wrong...

I did make a double batch, could that have been my downfall?

Used Baker's Joy?

Pans too small?

Cooked too long?

Because this is what happened:

But I squished it back together and that one is in the freezer.

The other one we ate for dessert on Easter Sunday. I made the almond whipped cream which I beat too long...sigh...

And a little strawberry sauce to serve with it because I needed to use up some over-ripe strawberries.

Everyone loved it, but I thought I could have done better...isn't that always the case? :)

I think I might serve the other one as Dorie suggests...Hot Fudge Sundaes.

It sure tastes good at room temp, with a cup of coffee, at breakfast time!

Click on over here to see what the others baked up.

Thank you to Holly over at Phe/Mom/enon for choosing this weeks "whip up in no time" dessert. If you haven't visited her blog...make sure you do. She is phenomenal :). Right now she is posting about the 2nd Annual Blogging for Babies event in support of the March of Dimes. Everyone can participate....I already have my baking idea in my head!

Oh I like the strawberry idea. Mine crumbled a bit around the edges too, but I squished it back on and covered the whole thing in glaze. The ganache took care of holding it together. :)

Looks are one thing, but taste is more important! I'll bet it was awesome with that strawberry sauce! Thank you so much for baking along with me this week and especially for mentioning the Blogging for Babies event!

It's the taste that counts, and it sounds like your cake was a total success. I'll admit it...I had a sliver of the torte with my coffee this morning! ;)

Ooooh yum, strawberry sauce! Wish I'd thought of that :) We're always our own toughest critics, aren't we?

Mine cracked too -- but the glaze covered it over just fine. Looks delicious and taste is what counts!

Man, kitchen blunders are the worst, they get me so down. Glad all turned out well in the end.

I agree, I always look at mine and think of all the ways it could be better. I think yours looks great, and the thing about desserts is that people love eating them. If it tastes good, nobody seems to care how it looks. I've had a lot of cakes crumble or crack, and it's nothing that a little frosting (or ganache!) won't conceal.

It all looks great (even the cracked one). Love the strawberry sauce.

I'm glad you were able to stick it back together! It's so frustrating when these things happen in the kitchen, isn't it??? It looks beautiful though!
