Hmmmm....what have we here....

Wow! Look at this:
My friend Michele, she of the persimmon, lemon and fig trees, went to Las Vegas for her Uncle Bobby's birthday.

I knew she was getting the custom cake from Retro Bakery...because she got one last year at the same time. Remember this post?

Well....she brought me back a little something.

RETRO FREAKIN' CUPCAKES!!!

They made it through airport security all lovingly wrapped in plastic by Kari. :) (I know this because she said she loves me!)

Here's what I got...

A Peanut Butter and Jelly.

A Coffee and Donuts.

A Hopscotch.

And....a Maple Bacon. Can you see that huge piece of bacon in the cupcake?

Michele said Hopscotch would change my life...but I'm here to tell you that it was
MAPLE BACON that did it.

They were all super moist and yummy and lots of buttercream...but I really liked the contrasting flavors of the sweet maple and salty bacon.

The PB&J tasted just like a pb&j.

The coffee buttercream on the the Coffee and Donuts was to die for.

The Hopscotch was super sweet and a friend of mine who really likes butterscotch inhaled most of it. It was really good but maybe a little too sweet for me.

If you are in Vegas anytime soon.....get your arse to Retro Bakery.

One day I'll be Kari...tattoos and all. :)

Oh yeah...I got a free t-shirt too! wOOt!

Thanks for stopping by.

Some cakes

I have been busy again! I love it and would never complain....I'll show you what I've been working on:

4 dozen chocolate and vanilla cupcakes frosted with vanilla and chocolate frosting. Simple fall colored decorations. These were for a wedding rehearsal dinner. :

A fun cake for a 16th birthday party. Alana's mom gave me a photograph of what she wanted and I went from there:

Bottom tier is a 9" vanilla cake with fresh strawberries and vanilla SMBC. Top tier is the same but filled with lemon curd. All decorations are homemade marshmallow fondant except for the "16" which was made from gum paste. (Wires weren't edible) Please excuse the quality of the photograph, I was in a hurry to deliver!

A Dora cake for a little girl turning 4:

10" chocolate cake with vanilla SMBC and homemade MMF decorations. Store-bought Dora candle.

2 dozen mini chocolate cupcakes with vanilla frosting for a birthday celebration at school:

2 dozen s'mores cupcakes for a Halloween party.

Love the ghostly faces

A Jack Skellington cake for a birthday close to Halloween:

9" vanilla cake with lemon curd filling and lemon SMBC. Fondant face. I do believe my smooth icing is improving!

Isn't that the cutest cake you've ever seen? :)

Thanks for stopping by!

A BIG Thank you!

So here's how it happened...I have been adding photographs of my cupcakes to the Cupcakes Take the Cake pool on Flickr every so often...when I bake them, remember to photograph them, and then remember to take them off my camera, put them on the computer and upload to Flickr... :)

I was so so excited when the Cupcakes Take The Cake blog featured a photograph of my Valentine's themed cupcakes. I even wrote about it here! Wow...they're over in New York and they liked my photographs from all the way over here in Northern California! Life is good!

Then...I got some Flickr mail from Rachel who helps run the CTTC blog. She said she loved my photographs and was wondering if she could use 5-6 of them to feature on the blog with a credit and a link! I almost started hyperventilating! So very cool...me...on that blog! Of course I said yes and here it is!

I owe a big thank you to all the girls at CTTC! You guys made my week!
